2021 BUSINESS AWARDS

With the changing face of how we have had to live over the last couple of months, and for a while longer, we aren’t able to come together to celebrate these achievements, but it doesn’t make them less valid.

Thank you to all who nominated businesses and employees, such a wide and varied array from across the Shire. It is wonderful to see the support and appreciation the Community has for the various businesses and their staff.

This year we engaged two new judges (who wish to remain anonymous) for the Awards. To assist them with their judging they put together a series of questions to the businesses nominated, and to employers of nominated employees. Many of the nominees and employers sent back responses to these questions. They were detailed and thoughtful answers, and I was privileged to be able to read them as well. I was amazed at the level of planning, innovation and passion our local owners and operators put into their businesses. Also the high regard and appreciation these owners have for the employees. Many businesses new and old have had to reinvent themselves to varying degrees in the last 12 months and I am in awe of them. From reading the comments in the nominations and the responses to judge’s questions, I would say everyone is deserving to be a winner. The judging notes which are being published on the all winners reflect the commitment of these businesses and employees.

Special mention and congratulations to our very worthy winner of Overall Excellence in Business, Maree Longbottom, Dungog Natural Health Clinic. Maree is a long time resident and business owner in our Shire . She will receive the Dungog Chronicle’s generous advertising package for the next year.

Celebration Event

Our 2021 Business Awards celebration event was held at Dungog Golf Club on 11 December 2021.

This was a more informal evening to our normal gala presentation dinner, and held to celebrate the achievements of all our members businesses across the Shire after this very difficult year.
