Disability Services Contract Commences

Wesley Uniting Employment (WUE) today commences delivering services under the Federal Government’s Disability Employment Services (DES) program.
DES provides employment services for people with a disability, assisting them to enter or re-enter the workforce, and supporting them in their employment. Assistance provided to DES clients can include:
- training in job search techniques
- assistance with vocationally relevant training
- referral and assistance with non-vocational services such as rehabilitation and counselling
- marketing to employers
- job placement
WUE has delviered Disability Employment Services in the north of NSW from locations at Lismore, Casino and Ballina since July 2006. These services will continue to be provided by WUE, who are now proud to announce that DES services will commence in the Manning area (Taree, Tuncurry) from today.
WUE has had great success in the Manning ESA with their mainstream employment services, currently being delivered to over 3,000 job seekers across the area. The experience and networks gained through this work (since 2000) will be used in the Disability Employment Services to provide increased opportunities for WUE job seekers.
