About Us
Hunter Valley Youth Express is a network linking business with education, community and parents within the Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Port Stephens, Muswellbrook, Scone, Beresfield and Dungog areas.
The partnership encourages participation by the senior students in Vocational Education and Training (VET) for the HSC. Within the VET course structured workplace learning is a key element.
Hunter Valley Youth Express provides a management support service for member schools and employers.
The core function of Hunter Valley Youth Express are:
- Management of work placement
- Promoting best practice in preperation and training of school students
- Matching industry skills needs to skills training
- School Based Traineeships and Apprenticeship support
- A board manages Hunter Valley Youth Express. The Maitland Chamber of Commerce and Industry nominates the chairperson, and members are drawn from:
- Local Chamber’s of Commerce and Industry (Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Maitland and Singleton)
- Local Empolyers
- TAFE
- Department of Education and Training
- Principals from member schools
- Community
